When a homeowner in Tonbridge, Kent, wanted to refresh the look of their property’s render, they turned to Mighty Oak Homes for expert advice and expert craftsmanship.
The existing render was in good condition structurally, but the client wasn’t happy with its stippled, spikey appearance. They wanted a modern, flatter finish without the hassle and cost of completely hacking it off. After an on-site consultation, we created a bespoke plan to mill down the render’s surface and overspray it with a premium Corksol cork render.
The Brief: A Smoother, Stronger Render
Our client’s main goal was simple: retain the integrity of their existing render while achieving a smoother, flawless exterior. The stippled finish made the walls look dated, so we recommended milling it flat rather than removing it entirely. By doing this, we could avoid unnecessary extra labour and cost while providing a perfect base for our specialist Corksol overspray.
Our Process: Mill, Prep & Spray
We tackled this project in a clear, careful sequence:
✔ Surface Milling: We milled down the face of the existing render to create an even, smooth surface.
✔ Jetwash & Prep: Once milled, the entire area was jetwashed to remove dust and debris, ensuring maximum adhesion for the new cork render.
✔ Specialist Spray Application: Using our professional spray technique, we applied Corksol’s flexible cork render to the property. This approach delivers a beautiful, uniform finish.
✔ Tidy & Finish: As with every job, we worked methodically and tidily—navigating the scaffolding carefully and ensuring the surrounding area was spotless at the end.
The full transformation took around 2–3 weeks to complete.
